i was going to point you to lacan.com but his fans are as confusing as he is.

he was a psychoanalysist in france in the 50s and 60s who reinterpreted freud. with some hegel thrown in.

anyway, he developed theories about how the unconscious reveals itself in language through metaphor and metonymy, etc. etc. i hate freud, i hate lacan; i wish neither of them were important to literature whatsoever.
